Mount Mercy University’s popular spring Market at the Mount is set for May 12, 10:30 a.m.–3 p.m., at the new Robert W. Plaster Athletic Complex. The student-organized event will bring more than 40 local vendors to the outdoor complex, located at 651 19th Street NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402.

Open to the public, vendors include services, artisans, crafters and food vendors. Products include crocheted items, BBQ sauces, wellness products, home decor and more.

Market at the Mount was first organized in 2014 by the Mount Mercy student Enactus team. Held each spring and winter, the event is a useful teaching tool. Students and vendors to collaborate and learn about best business practice.

Focused on community empowerment, Enactus takes no profit from the event. Local vendors set up shop free of charge and work with students on skills like product promotion and shop marketing. In December 2017, Market at the Mount generated $27,000 in sales for vendors.

The market also gives the community an opportunity to find local, handmade gifts in one location.

“I'm really looking forward to the spring market as a way to not only show off our new beautiful complex, but also to allow vendors to show their products to our community,” said Wyatt Cady, Enactus team member.

This event is free, and all are welcome. Visitors are encouraged to park in the lot off of 19th Street. For a map and directions please go to www.mtmercy.edu/maps-parking.
