Students at Mount Mercy University traded old for new in the Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow (STAT) t-shirt swap held Oct. 24. Learners donated college-branded t-shirts from around the country and in return received a new Mount Mercy shirt.
“We collected over 100 t-shirts advertising other colleges and universities,” said Ryan Phillips, annual giving coordinator. “Our Development and Alumni Relations office supplied each donor with a brand new Mount Mercy t-shirt to replace their old one.”
As a way of giving back to the community, the traded apparel was donated to Goodwill.
“It was great to instill Mustang pride in our students by allowing them a chance to upgrade apparel and make a community donation at the same time,” said Phillips. “The swap was a huge success.”
STAT organizes monthly activities aimed at increasing student philanthropy, and will host another t-shirt swap Thursday, Nov. 21 from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the University Center on Mount Mercy’s campus.
