Heavy hearts are felt campus-wide as Mount Mercy mourns the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Dale Harrison, who passed away Nov. 1, 2013.
Dale retired from the college’s faculty in 2006 after nearly 40 years of teaching in the business department. He remained a steadfast advocate for a well-rounded Mount Mercy education and frequently returned to campus to visit with colleagues and students over lunch in the cafeteria.
Tagged as our “#1 fan,” Dale was pillar of enthusiastic support for all student athletes. He was a long-time faculty athletic representative and was inducted into the Mount Mercy Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992 for his loyal support from the stands. His dedication to the Mount Mercy mission was unparalleled, and his passing leaves a deep void throughout the campus.
Our prayers are with Dale’s family and friends during this time of loss.
Visitation will be held at the Chapel of Mercy at Mount Mercy University from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov.9. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Inurnment will occur Monday, Nov. 11, at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cromwell, Iowa.
