The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota (Blue Cross) board of trustees announced that Mount Mercy University Board of Trustee Scott B. Lynch has been unanimously elected to serve as the company’s interim president and chief executive officer.

Lynch has been unanimously elected to serve as the company’s interim president and chief executive officer.A native of Cedar Rapids, Lynch had previously served as senior vice president and chief legal officer of Blue Cross. Lynch previously served as an attorney with the Minneapolis law firm of Oppenheimer, Wolff and Donnelly and subsequently held executive positions with Prime Therapeutics LLC and Novartis Corporation.
In addition to his duties for Blue Cross and his role on the board at Mount Mercy, Lynch also serves on the board of directors of Dakota Woodlands, and the board of directors of Memorial Blood Centers, where he also chairs the Human Resources committee. Lynch is a 1985 graduate of Mount Mercy and received his juris doctorate from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles in 1990. He is licensed to practice law in Minnesota and California.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, with headquarters in the St. Paul suburb of Eagan, was chartered in 1933 as Minnesota’s first health plan and continues to carry out its charter mission today as a health company: to promote a wider, more economical and timely availability of health services for the people of Minnesota.
